Anxiety


Anxiety can sometimes leave you feeling hopeless and alone, fear is not your body’s natural response to stress. It's often triggered by a thought which evokes a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous. On occasion there is an inability to identify the root cause and this is where therapy can help.


Complex PTSD

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder: (As well as PTSD symptoms you may also experience some or all of the below)

  • difficulty controlling your emotions

  • feeling very hostile or distrustful towards the world

  • constant feelings of emptiness or hopelessness

  • feeling as if you are permanently damaged or worthless

  • feeling as if you are completely different to other people

  • feeling like nobody can understand what happened to you

  • avoiding friendships and relationships, or finding them very difficult

  • often experiencing dissociative symptoms such as depersonalisation or derealisation

  • regular Suicidal feelings.

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder is often a result of exposure to longstanding physical, emotional or sexual abuse as well as neglect.

Fear

What is Fear?

Fear is one of the seven universal emotions experienced by everyone around the world. Fear arises with the threat of harm, either physical, emotional, or psychological, real or imagined. While traditionally considered a “negative” emotion, fear actually serves an important role in keeping us safe as it mobilizes us to cope with potential danger.

Addiction

Often when you hear the word addiction we think of drugs and alcohol however addiction is more than this, its anything you can not do with out and is often used as coping strategies, burying unresolved issues and past traumas often linked to early childhood upset or sudden loss.


Emotional Dysregulation

This is an inability to appropriately regulate your emotions, you my find that the way you approach difficult situations with becoming overly angry or overly tearful and at times run away from said situation. This is not your fault, it has been known to derive from early interpersonal traumas in childhood.


Managing Stress

Stress is the body's reaction to feeling threatened or under pressure. It's very common, can be motivating to help us achieve things in our daily life, and can help us meet the demands of home, work and family life.

But too much stress can affect our mood, our body and our relationships – especially when it feels out of our control. It can make us feel anxious and irritable, and affect our self-esteem.

Experiencing a lot of stress over a long period of time can also lead to a feeling of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion, often called burnout.

To think about problems or unpleasant things that might happen in a way that makes you feel unhappy and frightened. This becomes a problem when it is impacting on your wellbeing and it is interfering with your day to day life.
